Major depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest during daily activities (Major Depression). This disorder is known as one of the most common mental disorders (Kohn). It affects how people feel, think, and behave in certain situations. Throughout her life, she has encountered various hospital admissions, medications, and ECTs, in the struggle to control her depression. At the time of the interview she had encountered over twenty-four ECTs and has had positive results every time. Major depression disorder does not care who you are. It consumes the lives of children as well as adults everyday. Thus, leaving the feeling of hopelessness rather than happiness. Some people, such as Tara, fight this disorder everyday while others get it periodically. It is treatable, although it can also come back at any time.
