I have chosen to discuss the clothing company Russell Outdoors formerly known as Mossy Oak Apparel (Hoover’s Inc., 2015). Mossy Oak is strongly associated with outdoorsman and women who use camouflage for outdoor sporting activities or for fashion purposes. Their brands include Elements, Mossy Oak, and APX. Hunting products are sold through mass merchandisers, sporting good retailers, and catalog sales in the US (Hoover’s Inc., 2015). For our purchase of camping gear, we identified three possible vendors to choose from; Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), Dick’s Sporting Goods, and the Coleman Company. We have chosen to pick REI to purchase our equipment from. We did not select Dick’s Sporting Goods because their license for purchasing has expired. The Coleman Company was not selected because they are not a local entity and we would have a huge shipment with no place to store it. REI is a national partner with the National Park Service, is a local company, and has given us a discount for the equipment.…

Rovio Entertainment Ltd, a global mobile game developer company, also dedicated to providing top notch entertainment experiences through other businesses such as animation, licensing, merchandising, among other businesses, became a success since the release of the well-known game, Angry Birds. Nevertheless, Finland’s Rovio Entertainment’ success has been mainly its sustained and clever alliance with other renowned brands to promote its line of games. “An existing brand can leverage associations by linking itself to other brands from the same or different company (Pearson Custom Business Resources, MKTG 1020, p. 243)”. Overall, apart from solid colors, Arc’teryx LEAF produces products in the MultiCam pattern which is trademarked by Crye Precision (which was originally used by the U.S. army in 2010 while stationed in Afghanistan territory). This is particularly interesting as it explains why products in this pattern are more expensive and further appeals towards their consumer segment. Having said that, in comparison to regular Arc’teryx products, the LEAF line is approximately 30-50% more expensive. With this in mind, it comes to no surprise as the perceived value from the consumer’s perspective lies in the quality, functionality, and durability of the material used for LEAF products.…
