I kept swinging my arms at the bugs trying to go for my face, but they got to my legs first. Then they started to crawl up my legs, almost to my pants. I kneel down and try to swing with all of my force at the mob of bugs and gnats. Luckily i got most of the bugs, but then the mosquitoes surprised attacked me and started sucking my blood from my arms.

The Mosquitoes would not stop drinking my lotion scented blood. It felt like that-oh-my-god-please-make-this-pain-go-away-i'm-dying feelings.

For the entire book, Piggy has been ignored and not treated that well. Nobody cared about him or his ideas, but when he is dead, Ralph notices and realizes how important he was. Piggy's symbolism has become quite clear over the course of the book; he represents civilization. Golding, I believe, was trying to show how people take civilization for granted and that no one really appreciates until it's gone. Now with Piggy gone, the entire island is chaos.…

The idea that there isn’t usually a lot that separates the villain from the hero is true in Mosquitoland. Mim seems to be rude to people like Kathy for no apparent reason at all. She also stole money, evident from “... she removes a thick wad of bills and counts by Andrew Jacksons to eight hundred eighty dollars” (7). Mim’s attitude towards people is also very condescending and rude throughout the first half of the book. Therefore, although we know she is the protagonist, she also displays some antagonistic…

Bugs love me. It is an unrequited love. In the forests of North Carolina where I have spent summers since I was seven years old, it was a constant battle not to be consumed by the never ending mass of insects who rated me five-star cuisine. Out of all difficult situations I personally encountered, nothing ever reached the insanity of my room's bedbug infestation in my junior year. Unfortunately, my family could not afford a bed bug exterminator. With a single mother who makes less than $30,000 a year and a brother in college, hiring an exterminator was a choice we could not afford. Consequently, our circumstances left us with one remaining option: annihilating the nightmares themselves. Ultimately, with the bedbugs originating in my room, it became my responsibility to eradicate them.…
