Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. Many of them are single moms, unemployed, and recent immigrants, who must access social resources to help ends meet. It is a hardship for them to better their education or work experience, because they have responsibilities to provide for their family first, rather than themselves.…

By the grace of God, no one was inside and only possessions were lost. Her Christian faith must have taken over while facing such a loss as she did not shed a tear. Not long after the fire department showed up, Amish neighbors were pouring in from all directions. Once she had familiar company, I wished her the best and headed home.…

It was a beautiful Sunday morning, my two children and I were sitting in the front pew, as we often do, watching my charismatic husband give another wonderful sermon. My gorgeous daughter, Mia, was sitting on my right, attentively hanging off of each of her father’s words. My dashing son, Zach, was sitting on my left. He isn’t much interested in church these days; I guess at sixteen other things become much more important than silly old church.…
