Moses And Noah Research Paper

What would you do if God appeared to you and randomly asked you to be his servant and to complete the impossible? Most of us would probably fail out of pure disbelief or lack of faith. God did so to both Moses and Noah. The Lord spoke to and influenced Moses and Noah, which changed how they saw themselves as individuals and how they contributed to their society. This was expressed in the Bible, and has been retold numerous times, most recently in movies such as The Ten Commandments, Prince of Egypt, Noah and Exodus: Gods and Kings. When God came to Moses, Moses initially resisted the role as leader. With the 10 plagues he brought upon Egypt, God showed Moses his power he had and Moses eventually embraced the role of a leader to his people. …show more content…
The Lord was disgusted with the sins of man and said he would destroy all of mankind with a Great Flood. He then asked Noah, whom he considered a good man, to build a great ark. By building the ark, he would then be able to save 2 of every beast, bird, as well as his family and their spouses. In the Bible God said, “I am about to bring the waters of the flood over the earth to destroy from under heaven every human being that has the spirit of life; everything on earth shall perish. But with you I shall make my covenant, and you will go into the ark, you with your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives. You are to bring living creatures of every kind into the ark to keep them alive with you, two of each kind, a male and a female; two of every kind, of bird, beast, and creeping thing are to come to you to be kept alive. See that you take and store by you every kind of food that can be eaten; this will be food for you and for them.” Noah walked with God and believed in him, thus he began to construct the ark as commanded. Noah was always very righteous and blameless, so since God saw the world as corrupt and violent, Noah did too. It took Noah sometime to finish the ark and at the same time he had to persuade his family to believe in the Lord’s plans. Although, God’s influence and presence is so strong, each man granted with a test from God is faced with a test of faith in order to realize his full potential. The day of The Great Flood soon came and that was the day Noah changed from an ordinary man into the savior of man and animal

In “Noah,” the Wakefield Master offers a complex, mythical play that is almost paralleled to the story of Noah in the King James Holy Bible. This play exemplifies that Noah’s conceptualization of authority stems from the notion of God being supreme and almighty. This is evidenced as, in a figuratively symbolic sense, the underlying element of God’s height or position from heaven alludes to his sense of omnipotent authority. This is very powerful by virtue of the idea that even if Noah had tried to refute God’s power – in understanding that God has the ability to see everything and look down upon the earth—he finds it challenging to deny the idea that God’s omniscience inherently constitutes superiority. In “Noah”, the Wakefield Master asserts…
