Mosaic law code, god wants his people to reflect his holiness. Both law codes have a different idea of what a responsible and faithful citizen should be. Both law codes try to enforce on what is right, wrong, and how the citizens should live.
Mosaic law code plays a major role in the relationship the citizens have with god. They are able to grow and understand the mistakes they have done and are given the chance to reflect the holiness of their god. The law code, not only wants to help the citizens become holy, but to learn how to follow God and connect with him through the laws. For example, it states “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:2-5 ESV). Both law codes are trying to work together with their god and both are trying to stay away from evil. These laws do not want their people to kill, steal, and stay true to their marriage. There are sets of law in both law codes that are similar and have the same concept. For example, in the mosaic law code it states, “Thou shalt not kill” and “Thou shall not steal” In the Hammurabi law code it states, If the robber is not caught, then shall the one who was robbed claim under oath the amount of his loss; then shall the community on whose ground and territory and in whose domain the robbery occurred compensate him for the goods stolen.” and “if anyone brings an accusation that involves a capital murder charge and does not prove what he has charged, the accuser shall be put to death.” The both examples for each law do not want their people to commit a crime and want them to be faithful to others, themselves, and most of all their
