The large scope of the project required me to exercise fiscal responsibility and employ innovative methods to reach our fundraising goal of 1000 dollars. While keeping up with my academic and research responsibilities, I applied for multiple grants to fund our community service projects. By delegating tasks such as sponsor recruitment to specific members, I ensured that everyone felt an integral part of this project. Thanks to grant fundings and rigorous outreach, we actually surpassed our fundraising goal. We were proud to support two exceptional UCLA students with our scholarships and

It is a great pleasure to recommend Rachel Sitasz for admission to the Edward Hospital Student Volunteer Program. She is one of the most empathetic, kind, and exceptional humans I have encountered in my 14 years of teaching. I teach Rachel in my 8th grade advanced ELA class. Her academics, character, innate curiosity, intrinsic motivation, ethical standards, and unwavering desire to give back, have put Rachel in a class of her own. In fact, for the first time in over 25+ years, the eighth-grade team created a brand new end-of-the-year award for our graduation awards assembly.…

Last Thursday, November 5th, Temple’s FBLA went to the Fall Leadership Conference in Athens, Georgia. We prepared beforehand by creating a basket filled with school supplies and gift cards to donate to the Scholarship Basket event, where people paid for tickets in order to have a chance to win the basket of their choosing. This helped raise money for scholarships, which are to be awarded to senior FBLA members. Our basket proved to be a hit, with many people choosing to put their tickets towards winning it.…

Though I have not always been consciously aware of the four pillars of National Honor Society, the ideas behind them are what have undoubtedly shaped who I am today as well as who I want to be in the future. The first pillar, scholarship, is important because a commitment to learning is what has made me interested in engineering and innovation. Additionally, scholarship has driven me to seek a meaningful post-secondary education where I can advance my learning to help better society. Service, the second pillar, has been important to my development because it has taught me that giving is more fulfilling than receiving. Moreover, this pillar has motivated me to construct a goal of serving in the US Air Force.…

If we worked together once to improve the standing of Beta Zeta Chapter (to build a bigger and better house), we can surely band together again to recolonize our chapter and achieve greater heights! Below, Jim Henry, BZ 988, shares the story of the hard work our brothers put into building the new house in 1989: In 1989, a Centennial Building Committee for the Beta Zeta Chapter of the Sigma Nu Fraternity was formed. The purpose of this committee was to raise funds for the new house so we could break ground in the Spring of 1990 and have it completed by the Summer of 1992, which was the 100th anniversary of Beta Zeta at Purdue.…

When I joined my high school’s chapter of National Honor Society, I didn’t know what to expect. I knew only that it involved community service and improvement projects. After joining, I decided to run for office within the group to gain experience in assisting large groups of people. My work as communication secretary involved being at every NHS project, officer meeting, and at a wide variety of community service projects so I could communicate my experiences with the rest of the members. I had served as an officer for almost a year when our faculty adviser’s employment was terminated unexpectedly.…
