Although the Mortal Instruments and Anthem are both popular books about dystopian societies, they differ in many ways. Well, both books were based as a dystopian society. In the book Anthem, it might have been more obvious that it was a dystopian society, They are dystopian societies in different ways.In Anthem, the main character had lived with the false truth his whole life. He knows that what he has grown up with is not right. On the other hand, in the Mortal Instruments, the main character realizes how bad the situation is because they grew up in the truth and knew that what was going on was wrong. Both societies were run by the Government. Teenagers show so much interest in dystopian literature because the might feel like they can relate to the main character.

The more the story progresses, the worse it gets. In The Mortal Instruments, there has always been rule over the people by the council. This is how it always has been.“We shouldn’t,” protested Isabelle. “The Clave has a plan.”“The Clave has the collective intelligence of a pineapple,” said Jace. This quote shows that it is not unknown that the council is stupid. The characters, at least the main ones, know that the council is wrong. In a way, just like in Anthem, people only talk to their groups. There are different species of creatures. The vampires, werewolves, shadowhunters, and many more, that only ever really talked to their own kind. Over time, this changed as well as in did in Anthem. They realized that that did not matter. After the characters in both stories realized the stupidity of the rules, they started breaking them more and more. Both councils got very upset and because of the disobedience of the characters, they became very well known by not only the councils, but by the people as
