Mrs. Barbour The Watsons Go To Birmingham Comparative Essay The story of a family that got a little bit more than a trip to see their grandma in Birmingham got blown way out of proportion. The story written by Christopher Paul Curtis involves the family having troubles with Byronn and they travel to Birmingahm to keep them there for the summer. Now, I’m not saying that the movie doesn’t have any detail about the characters, it’s just that the book had the frosting for the cake. Kenny has a couple of friends that were not mentioned in the movie. L J Jones was a character that I really liked and he wasn’t in the movie. Also, Larry Dun and Byronns safety procedure was not what it really was. In the movie

That’s what I really liked about the book better than the movie. I always thought that Byronn was bigger that he was portrayed in movie. Also, Kenny was described with a lazy eye. The movie never really expressed that idea, and also mama really had a different apperance than what I thought. I always that she was a little bigger that what she really was. Now, the Whoo Poo was a little, just a different than what I pictuerd. Okay it was a lot. It was described as being squared. In the movie it looked like it was a spirit rather than a evil version of Winnie the Pooh. It actually was scarier than what I thought too, I pictured it as a funnier thing than it was in the movie. So I really liked that and.
Finally, the movie really focused on discrimination and what was really going on with the world at that time. In the book it focused on the family a lot more. I really liked the family and how the lived. The humor as well was pretty funny as well. When By stuck his tongue on the mirror of the Brown Bomber, Kenny and Daddy thought it was pretty funny. But mom and Joey were really scared as Byronn. The book also got into more detail about the record player. Daddy was getting all weird and so was Kenny. It was just more funny than the movie.
So between the novel and the movie, I think we a have a pretty obvious winner. The book just got into more detatil and I always prefer the novel over the

In the book, however, it went into more detail about how distant she was with her father. In the end, both the book and the movie have many similarities and differences. In my opinion though, I like the book better than the movie, because it goes deeper with important details than the movie does. The main characters Julie and R’s character development doesn’t change the way their relationship turns out.…

Also later in the movie it showed how johnny and tyrone looked because it showed how johnny was lighter than explained in the book. Plus it shows how Lloyds life style looks when dave and LeAlan go to wake Lloyd up so they can start their interviewsfor that day. Another difference is how much violence is despayed in the movie like when LeAlan and Lloyd were walking down the street to see a friend or a homi and a car drove by with men shooting the guys on the street and how LeAlan and Lloyd were able to make it to safety and get out nof their as quick as they could. These are some of the…

Often movies are made out of blockbuster books. Sometimes the movies do a good job of capturing the most important moments from the book and presenting them in the movie. Unfortunately, some movies do not always accurately depict the books they represent with full details. There are many reasons why a movie depiction of a book fails not least of which is because they are only given a couple of hours to tell the whole story in the book. A book is able to go in depth with the character’s emotions and experiences while a movie based on the book is limited by the length of the film.…

Ironically due to the storyline; the book is better than the movie, because it is shows better description, character analysis, and it gets the point across to the reader to show what leads up to the main idea. The Holocaust, was without a doubt one of the most tragic events in mankind 's history. Many books and movies have been able to tell the stories that took place during the holocaust but some writers like Elie Wiesel and Roberto Beninin are able to transcend into the the time and make us feel real emotions. But the book unlike the movie gives more of a personal connection. However, in the film much emphasis is placed on the how the story is viewed and presented with that being done the viewers are able to see what the characters look like, and what the setting of the town looked like. However, the individual reading the text will not have these feelings from the book because the description the people and the environment in the text is extremely vague. Davis feels as if the film deviates too much away from the primary source she also acknowledges that in areas that were the evidence was not present that a “certain leap of faith” had to take place in the story which is something that she created. When a filmmaker creates a film there is an artistic license, this doesn’t just stick to the film makers.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…
