How Does Morrie Teach People How To Live Life? “The hour of departure has arrived, and we go our separate ways I die and you live. Which of these two is better only God knows” (Socrates). Socrates is like Morrie Schwartz because eventually people are going to die and go their separate ways but while Morrie is dying he teaches people how to live life. Morrie teaches people to live by not feeling bad for themselves, talking about death, and feeling emotion. Morrie teaches people to not feel bad for themselves. Morrie allows himself to have a few tears in the morning but he doesn’t let himself get depressed because he can’t do what he loves anymore, instead he chooses to enjoy the things he can do. Morrie says “Mitch I don’t allow myself to more self-pity than that. A little each morning, a few tears and that’s all” (Albom 67). I think it is okay to feel a little bit bad for myself but not too much where I get depressed. Whenever I start feeling bad about myself I think about whatever happened and I forget about it and move on unless it was something big.

As it says in the book Tuesdays With Morrie, Morrie says “But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to dive in, all the way, over your head even, you experience them fully and completely” (Albom 104). I think that it is very healthy for us to show our emotion at the time needed because if we hold it all in one day we’ll explode from the emotions that build up inside. I am the type of person who holds in my emotion. I never really let out my emotions unless I am in a comfortable situation.
