Morrie Schwartz rejects today’s popular culture because he feels like it dictates today’s society too much. He feels that people are focusing on all the wrong things in life, thus leading them to lead empty lives. Today’s culture, according to him, is too media driven, and the people in it are too greedy, violent, self centered, and corrupt; and they’re so brainwashed that they don’t even know they’re living such a materialistic and empty lifestyle. I found myself wondering, like Mitch, why Morrie didn’t just leave and go to a new place. Yet, I completely understood his explanation for not running away.…

Paramore is an alternative rock band. I mainly chose this band due to the fact that it was the first band I had ever listened to. Whenever I hear their songs, it brings nostalgic memories of how I used their music to express the antsy feelings I felt back in middle school. It allowed me to express the depression and suicidal thoughts I felt without harming myself. The songs that affected me the most and helped me get through tough times were “Playing God “, “Feeling Sorry” and “Ignorance “.…

Introduction The life of Joseph Merrick has been an inspiration to many and the subject of numerous publications and dramatic works since his death in 1890. I aim to explore aspects of his physical, psychological, social and economic story to create a picture of "The Elephant Man".
