Mormons Cult Structure

Mormons where do they fall on the Church-Sect continuum? I’m going to say and stand with my answer that the Mormon church is nothing but a fancy cult. There are many examples of why they are a cult. One of the very first ones is they have a reward base structure way into getting into heaven. Their structure of leadership is funky yet it works. They have been known for their problems with society. They never seem evolve to the times in all truth honesty unless it’s for the better of the church. Reward base structure what did I mean by this? Let me clarify Mormons believe that only the worthy may go to heaven and enjoy all the luxuries of heaven. However, to become worthy you must follow a very strict guide line. One of these strict rules is you must give ten percent of what every you earn in the form of currency. If you happen to not give your share you will face dear consequences, you could lose the right to go to the temple. What I think is the worst part is that the church gives you a label for not being in line with the church’s needs. Jack Mormon is what this church “cult” refers to its members that do not give money or time to the church. And only when you are back in good terms do they no longer call you a Jack Mormon. By doing all these they are establishing ethical principles and are thrusting to influence their member’s behaviors. There is no real election all there is the Quroum of the Twelve. Whoever is on the top of the list becomes the prophet and president of their church. That right their sounds very fishy. In the Catholic church, whoever is on the top is no prophet but becomes the Pope the leader of the Catholic church and their election process can be very long and frustrating. Yet the Mormons seem to be fine with the way their leaders are elect. However, the thing that screams to me is that their president is the only one that can talk to God. No one else but the president speaks to god. This here reminds me of Jim Jones’s Peoples Temple sure the Mormon church might not be as extreme as the Peoples Temple. Yet, what is stopping one of their future leader to do so after all they believe that god speaks to the President because after all he is their prophet. No matter how silly it might sound to outsiders like myself. I hope it never leads to something that dark we will only know in time its self. No religion is perfect many of them have had their share of problems; however, the Mormon church problems never seem to leave. For example, the Mormon church has been known for its approval of polygamy in its early stage. It was abolished later in the existence of the Mormons church. Sadly, they still practice this sort of practice even throw it’s not allowed in the United States. Yet the Mormon church does punish their members if they practice polygamy; although, the practice is still in used in some cells of the Mormon church.
