Morgan Oldroyd entered Gemstone Residential Program on 2/16/17. During her stay at Gemstone, Morgan had the opportunity to participate in a variety of treatment programs, some being; Adapt, Why Try, Girls Moving On, Seeking Safety, Carey Guides and Forward Thinking Packets. She also participated in volunteer activities such as; Employment, Values, Talk Circle, boxing, YWCA (Young Women’s Council Association), and Healthy Relationships. Morgan participates in all available programs and volunteer activities with no issues. When Morgan arrived, she expressed wanting to make changes in her life, while also expressing her fear of having to let go of negative peers and negative habits, this put her at contemplation stage of …show more content…
Her Mom, Dad, David Oldroyd, and siblings have all actively taken part in being supportive of Morgan’s treatment plan while encouraging her to continue to make positive choices. Another one of Morgan’s risk domains is: Friends youth spends time with. Morgan admits that it would be a challenge seeing past peers who have not been a great influence on her, she also expressed the challenges of having access to parties. However, Morgan feels comfort in knowing that her family is willing to support her and advise her when she comes across these difficult challenges. She also expressed her need for change and wanting to surround herself with positive peers. Morgan has communicated with her treatment team that she knows how to identify positive peers vs negative peers. In her Child and Family Team Meeting, she was asked to share what her perspective of a positive peer looked like, this was also one of her risk factor goals. Morgan used herself as an example, stating “I had a friend who is now a heavy drug user, she blamed me for being a user, because I gave her, her first cigarette.” Although Morgan felt her friend made her own choices to use drugs, Morgan was able to admit that she should have never offered her a cigarette because it was not
