Some general codes a person can apply to their daily lives to improve their overall personal is are to stand up for what they believe in, to be honest, and to be selfless. These ideas are presented in several works of literature such as “The Dog and the Wolf”, “Cinderella”, and “Anansi’s Fishing Expedition”. All give examples on why these specific codes are what develop a well-minded person. These are codes that I apply to my everyday life. Standing up for an individuals belief varies to the degree of extremeness in which it is willing to be applied. In Aesop’s fable “The Dog and The Wolf’, the wolf shows this code because he is willing to die for it. My younger brother is someone who has helped me understand the importance of this. Kevin is eleven-years-old and is on the autism spectrum which causes him to learn a little differently. Having an individual judge him based on his diagnoses is upsetting because they do not know his true potential. Standing up for certain beliefs is what makes someone an individual and this also requires a corresponding factor of being …show more content…

While trying to win over the prince, her stepsisters lied in order to try to be crowned queen. At Cinderella’s wedding her step sisters then tried to win Cinderella’s favor and they received a punishment, ‘for their wickedness and falsehood, they were punished with blindness as long as they lived.” their lies caused a lifelong punishment (Grimm 86-93). Lying has the result of accumulating into more lies. When becoming friends with someone I put my faith into them that they will tell me the truth. Unfortunately, I underwent a situation where I was lied to and I was the one who ended up hurt. My friend promised to keep a secret of mine, but they lied to me and told several people and it hurt me because I was the one who was betrayed. When being honest the truth is being kept from a person. Being selfless and considerate of others thoughts and feelings is another key element of being a good
