My Personal Moral Philosophy

For the rest of my life, I will always be striving to live by as many good character traits as I possibly can. When it comes to my family life in the future, I hope to raise my children with the understanding that morally just traits are important things to live by. Due to the fact that most of my family believes in the same moral code as myself, I think that my children will not have a difficult time fulfilling that as well. Even though this moral philosophy works well for me in my own life, I know that it doesn’t fulfill everyone’s personal needs. Although, I would teach my children my moral concepts, I would hope that they are able …show more content…
Due to the fact that my job focuses on children instead of adults, I believe it is very important to students formulate their own moral ideals throughout their schooling. Many schools focus on character traits of the month, which I think is very important in the creation of young children’s moral ideals. Since a lot of what my moral philosophy is focuses on the development of good character traits (and riding oneself of bad ones), I feel like my career is very well suited for me. Most of what I will want to focus on with student is the understanding of what is right and wrong. Since children learn a lot about rules and regulations from their schooling, I know that it’ll be important to be a good role model for …show more content…
My family has always given to a variety of causes (ranging from natural disaster relief to campaign funds) so I believe that I will probably do the same. In regards to raising my children, I will most likely use the authoritative parenting style. My hope is that I will set ground rules (that I expect my children to follow) but I will also have the will power to be flexible in particular situations. I aim to use consequences instead of punishments in most cases because I believe this is the best way of dealing with bad behavior and rule

While I am still in a place in my life that I have many goals, I want to conquer and dreams I want to achieve, one of those dreams is to be ready to be a mother. I want to feel as ready as possible to be a parent before jumping in, because there are so many styles and decisions involved in being a mother, and I want to know what I am doing. Through counseling and education, I realized how fulfilling being a parent might be, and how all of this knowledge and love could raise a very happy human. I have many reasons why I want to be a parent, as I hope most people who have children (whether intentionally or unintentionally) eventually realize. One of these reasons is that I love kids.…

According to the book, the Authoritative parents are defined as the following; strict rules but more democratic, responsive toward their children, nurturing and forgiving. At the same time, I would like to be able to talk to my kids as a friend at times. I do not want them to be scared of mistakes because mistakes are a part of life and I do not want them to be scared to come to me for help when they mess up. I believe it would take a lot of work, time and bonding to achieve this.…

I will be able to use the positive things I have learned from my family to leave a positive impact on my students. One of the biggest things I want to impart on my students is how important it is to accept themselves and others with all their flaws and hardships, and use that to better themselves. Counter to this, as an educator I will need to reject the part of my family’s culture that relies on prejudice and bias. Part of rejecting this means making sure I teach my students to do the same. I want to have a classroom that is open to talking about more difficult issues and overcoming our prejudices and our negative socializations.…

I also use my code of ethics to govern my thought process. If someone wants me to do something that goes against my code of ethics I already know that it is not something I should be doing and abstain from it. Although this is the case, I could better improve on my code of ethics by strengthening my commitment to my religion. More times than not I find myself distanced from my religion and occupied with other matters such as relationships, personal entertainment, and friendships that have a negative impact on my life. By remaining steadfast on my teachings I could strengthen my ethical code because what I was taught positively effects my daily life.…
