Jimmie is hypocritical when he gets mad at Pete for going into one’s home and ruining one’s sister, when he also does this to Hattie and leaves her with a baby to take care of. “Jimmie had an idea it wasn't common courtesy for a friend to come to one's home and ruin one's sister. But he was not sure how much Pete knew about the rules of politeness” (Crane 32). Jimmie gets mad at Pete for doing this, but he also does the same thing to Hattie. Lastly, Jimmie’s hypocrisy was shown when he got mad at Maggie for her affair and got her kicked out of the house.
