Daniel – Reflection

Every biblical character seems to have qualities that are good and bad, we can derive those qualities to apply it in our lives now.
We all know Daniel for interpreting the dream of Nebuchadnezzar, and for his faithfulness demonstrated when was thrown in the lion’s den. But we need to understand the underlying qualities of Daniel, which made him the prophet he was.
One of the main qualities of Daniel that caught my attention was that: -

Daniel knew where to go for answers
The book of Daniel shows him to be a faithful man of God. When King Nebuchadnezzar threatened to destroy all the wise men if one of them didn’t tell him his dream and interpret it, Daniel and his friends asked for time so he and his three friends could

Daniel trusted in God
In Daniel 6:23 “Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.” Perhaps there’s no greater description of this excellent leader. Because he trusted God, he was secure in his own identity. Because he trusted God, he knew the source of his wisdom. Because he trusted God, he was a man of great, uncompromising courage. He lived with integrity and prayed continually.
This unshakable trust is built through having a good relationship with God, it is said in Daniel 6:10 that he prayed 3 times a day. This constant communion with God builds a strong foundation of trust over a period of time, and in times of doubt and trail, this strong foundation of trust will get us through.
Margaret Feinberg says,
“When it comes to relying on God, we find comfort in knowing that God is with us. But that kind of with isn’t a distant and far off kind of presence; no, God is with us in the minutest details of our lives. Whatever we’re facing, God has a way of surprising us with his presence and reminding us that nothing escapes his

Not everything in the leadership journey will go as planned or perfectly, it is very easy to lose heart during these times and may even end up questioning our call as leaders. But with a strong relationship and trust like Daniel will get us through the toughest times
This type of understanding about Gods presence and confidence in God seems to be very essential in a leaders life.

Conclusion
John Piper defines spiritual leadership as -
“Knowing where God wants people to be and taking the initiative to use God’s methods to get them there in reliance on God’s power. The answer to where God wants people to be is in a spiritual condition and lifestyle that display his glory and honor his name.”

Good and bad leadership qualities can be learnt from biblical figures and non-biblical figures throughout history. Some of these qualities can be applied even today by understanding the different contexts and situations, which we function in.
But we always need the wisdom and the guidance of God to be led to lead people just as Daniel was

Scripture is full of different qualities that a leader should possess but there are a few in particular that stick out. A Christian leader is someone who is imitable and who's actions deserve to be imitated. In 1 Corinthians 4:16 it states, "Therefore I urge you to imitate me," (New International Version 1984) and this leads you to believe that a leader should always live an imitable life. Christian leaders also have integrity. They can be trusted and expected to be honest.…

John Perkins and Wayne Gordon described the major improvement and accomplishment that they saw happened in the Lawndale Community Church in their tour of Spring 2012. As they were touring around and looking at the significance changes, they both can’t help but reflect on what that place used to look like some 30 years ago. Their reflection includes some laughter but on a serious notes though, they both witness God’s faithfulness to that community. In Gordon’s words “at the core of this transformation is a philosophy that John has passed on to me and---many others “ (15). This philosophy of transformation that both Gordon and Wayne has been passing down is allowing them to create servant leadership in people.…

This was the difference between Moses and the rebels. They seek to be exalted for their own benefit while God wanted a leader who would listen completely to him because they had the best interest of the community at heart. Unity was important for the people of God, and all must be submissive to unity- unity that is generally beneficial to all.…

The Servant by James C. Hunter provides a foundation and an understanding of true leadership. Through the lives of John Daily and five other struggling leaders on a retreat, Hunter uses Brother Simeon to explain the principles of servant leadership, which causes John and the others to reflect deeply on their character, trust, and commitment. Creating and deepening the principles described by Brother Simeon will enhance one’s leadership perspective and will prove to be beneficial for a school principal. “Leadership is the skill of influencing people to work enthusiastically toward goals identified as being for the common good” (Hunter, 2012, p 28). To influence people, you must build authority, which is done when you identify and meet the…

    Psalm 68 Analysis

Psalm 68 is an amazing poem written by David that gives insight into the character and qualities of God as sovereign king of both Israel and the world. What is more, the psalm bounces back and forth from speaking to God; using personal pronouns such as ‘you,’ and at the same time David is telling the reader about God. Both of these methods lend well for worship. In addition, David was a king, so his perspective of God as king and the role of the king for his people threads all the way through the entire psalm. Psalm 68 lists specific qualities of God as king, shows his primary activities on behalf of his people and parallels to how King Jesus lived while on earth.…

Introduction into this book and videos covers how we need to set long term goals, but before doing so we need to ask ourselves some questions. Before we can set those goals we should seek to know Christ. This can be done by reading the four gospels and seeing what Jesus did, what we can learn from him, and how does it relate to us? Jesus’ last commandment was to go and make disciples, and while principles never change, our methods have to change in order to reach the current generation, and each beyond. As we get into the chapters we learn that men are God’s method and while they may seem unlearned or ignorant by man’s standards, God uses those willing to learn and raises them into leadership.…
