Study.com states, “A moral dilemma is a conflict in which you have to choose between two or more actions and have moral reasons for choosing each action.” Moral dilemmas can be quite difficult because not only are they taxing, but whatever choice is made will affect the outcome of the future. Imagine, One Sunday afternoon, you borrow your friend’s handgun to shoot targets at a shooting range. He is reluctant to turn it over because it is a special custom handgun his grandfather used to own that he has refurbished. A week later your friend has been robbed and is in a fit of rage. He knows who did it and demands you turn the gun over immediately. He appears to be wanting to confront, and potentially kill, the criminal. Do you give him the handgun? Filling a police report can be one of those solutions. In order to file a police report, you must have authentic information on the incident. With advanced technology, people can file police reports online as well as go to the police station in person. This would be a good alternative to the situation because the two-people involved in the moral dilemma will not be affected and the criminal will have a warrant for his arrest. Because the victim of the attack can identify the robber, thus, he can provide vital evidence to the police. Another alternative would be to use the friend’s vulnerability to keep him from raging. He is obviously in a tough situation and his emotions are spiraling out of control. He was just robbed and he wants to act out and seek revenge. This action is what most people would be set on, but in reality, it’s not the logical thing to do. Being put in a moral dilemma can be nerve wracking at times. When making decisions, as human beings, we tend to quickly take action and not think about the consequences of our actions. We take the reasonable approach rather than the logical
