Abraham Lincoln fought for the equality of all people. He was a proponent of women and in 1836 fought for their right to vote (Stewart 1). Lincoln displayed great moral courage throughout his presidency and life, as did the Jewish population throughout the Holocaust. Both Lincoln and the Jews suffered a similar fate with each being killed prematurely. Lincoln was assassinated and many of the Jews were killed in the concentration camps. Lincoln's courage has inspired me to stand up for what I believe in and make a difference in the world. By examining Lincoln's moral courage, and how it is similar to the Jews in the concentration camps, it is clear that Lincoln is a man of honor. The difference is Lincoln died a famous death and was buried and honored. Where as the most of the Jews were forgotten because death happened every day at the camp Was Elie Wiesel said in the book night "We were all going to die here. All limits had been passed. No one had any strength left. And again the night would be long" (Elie Wiesel 96). The jews and Lincoln are similar in other ways as well both just wanted peace and equality for people. That’s not there only similarities though both Lincoln faced many prejudice people who hated people because of their race, just like how the Nazi’s were prejudice against the Jews. As Hitler once said "If I am ever really in power, the destruction of the Jews will be my first and most important job. As soon as I have power, I shall have gallows after gallows erected, for example, in Munich on the Marienplatz-as many of them as traffic allows” (Stein SD 1) All in all the holocaust is similar to Abe Lincoln in that they both wanted peace and both the Jews and Lincoln had the same
