2. Involvement at NDSU and in the community
• American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE)
- ASABE is the society that engineers in my major participate in. I am currently the head scribe for the club. My job is to photograph club events throughout the year and to organize club newsletters as needed. I have also been involved with organizing and running our lawnmower and snowblower clinic.

I am currently part of the spring sale committee and plant care. Previous activities I have been involved with are the spring sale, fall sale, pumpkin sale, and Cass County 4-H Activity Day. Throughout the year, we learn the basics of growing plants, how to care for them, and the process of bringing them to market. This club isn’t directly for engineers, but it teaches a lot of valuable skills and connects me with others who share a common hobby.
• Alpha Epsilon Honor Society
- Alpha Epsilon is the honor society for outstanding agricultural, biological, and food engineers. My role in Alpha Epsilon has been as a peer mentor. As a peer mentor, I was paired with three freshmen students to offer advice. We met periodically throughout the semester to talk about whatever was going on in school and in our lives. The program was relatively informal, and was designed to connect the older students with the freshmen students in our department.

My goal after graduation is to work in the agricultural or biological field. I want to work at a company that is on the leading edge of solving problems related to food security, sustainability, bio-products, natural resource conservation, and processing. Two areas of particular interest to me are genetically modified crops and the application of engineering principles to aid the conservation of pollinators. While I work in industry, I hope to continue to grow my small business. I am hoping that the growth of my business will eventually allow me to retire early. My business currently sells plants and produce at local farmer’s markets. I am hoping to eventually start my own berry farm and native prairie restoration and pollinator landscape company. Regardless of my career, I want to work on things that will help people. My biggest goal as an engineer is to see something that I helped create make a positive difference in our world. I want to be an employee that others can rely on and is known for high-quality work. I also want to be an integral part of the success of the company that I work for. Most importantly, I will work with integrity to myself, the company I work for, and the general
