Moonrock Alternate Ending

Yet again we were off, I got directions to the tower from the man who knew his way around the town.

I know where the tower is Octavian! you can't hide this time! Sucker!!

We rode on throughout the whole day. Only stopping to go to the bathroom or to eat. We used up the day, riding all the way into the center of Moonrock. It was night time when we reached the River of Arcsec, where the tower was founded.

"There's the tower Gray!" I said in joy of finally reaching our destination.

It rose high up into the sky, vines with large thorns circled around it’s length threatening anyone who tried to climb it. The moonlight shone brightly in the sky. No this place is called Moonrock.

"We made it, 4 days to spare," Gray commented tired.

I looked

"Something's wrong," he said eyeing everything that moved around us.

I smiled, at least I got to see him one last time...

I slapped Zelda. She went into rampage and galloped off in full speed neighing in protest.

"Gabriela!!" Gray yelled in confusion.

The last thing I heard before I could not hear them no more was Gray trying to calm Zelda down.

I smiled as I lifted my arms, "I surrender."

There was the sinister laugh again.

"That's very wise of you Gabriela. Too bad we couldn't kill the mortal too. But what can he do that will save you. He's a mere mortal. And you're a vrăjitor scum," Octavian hissed.

"Don't insult me in Latin you trădător," I said as one of his men kicked my knees forward.

I fell to my ground with a silent yelp, the kick had been done harshly. I could feel as the man’s rough hands tied my mine behind me.

Octavian laughed cruelly, eyeing me with hatred.

"Speak for yourself," he lifted my chin with one of his fingers, "Princess."

I tossed my head to the side in anger, spatting at the ground. I glared at him furiously, he knew my weakness and he knew how to use it.

“You’re the traitor here Octavian, not me,” I looked at him with a glare.

“Octavian!!” I screamed as I ran down the quiet street towards my old friend.

He turned on his heel, his eyes widened when he saw me. As I got near him, his eyes clouded with hatred.

He grabbed me and tossed me to the wall.

I yelped in pain, “Octavian!?”

He suddenly had a knife to my throat, “Don't think we’re still buddies Ms. Gabriela. You put me in that place! It was your fault!”

He let me go and left. He soon burned down the safe haven for us magicians. We were forced out into the world. He went around killing our kind, making sure to hunt us down to every last one.

Until he came to me…

“You know you love me.”

“Gabriela!”

“It was your fault!”

“How could you do that to your home!?”

“This is no longer my home!”

“Octavian!!”

“Traitor!”

I suddenly woke up from the memory. My arms chained to the wall behind me. My cheek slightly hurt.

I managed to stand up, “Ouch,” I commented.

“Well, isn't this quite interesting,” said a way too familiar voice from the shadows.

“Who’s there?” I asked standing in battle formation.

A young woman walked out, “Gabriela, Princess Gabriela of Skyrock. The question here is, who are you?”

I mentally face palmed,

Using intertext, Catullus refers to Homer’s The Iliad using descriptors such as ‘free from fear’, ‘swift’ and valiant’ to create the expectation that Achilles will be depicted as a glorious hero. However this is undermined by violent imagery which emphasises visual elements such as blood, death and fire. In traditional Roman literary descriptions of warfare, extending pity or clemency towards the defeated was seen as virtuous, but this is subverted by Achilles’ ruthless actions (Hope, V.M. 2007). This subversion of traditional expectations is continued through a simile where he is likened to a reaper cutting down Trojans without mercy.…
