The author was born into wealthy family in Iran and arrived in England aged twelve where she attended private school. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a production of ''The Diviners,'' on Sunday, March the Nineteenth. The performance was put on by the Calhoun Community College theatre department. The play was staged in the black box theatre of The Alabama Center for the Arts in Decatur, Alabama. It was an impressive performance especially when considering the size and arrangement of the stage. Creating a novel where the ending is pretty clear from the start can be challenging to keep readers engaged. However, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao still manages to create a fascinating novel that readers want to complete, even if Oscar’s death was inevitable. Much of the credit goes to the author’s creation of the narrator and how he shapes him into a unique character.
