The ten commandments do not represent any other religion but Christianity. As someone who believes in being fair to all, Chief Justice Moore should not be able to display the ten commandments in the courthouse lobby. He did not notify anyone of his plan to place the monument in the lobby of the courthouse. He decided on his own that the commandments needed to be in the courthouse. His actions caused a bit of backlash from different groups. He was using an unconstitutional approach to portray his religion. Moore was ordered to take it down but he refused because of his religious belief. He believed that he could not complete his job without his faith in God. It would be unfair to other religions if he could keep the monument in the courtroom. If Chief Moore had discussed what he was planning beforehand, the reaction may have been less dramatic.
