People build monuments of the figures from the past, so more people can see those figures and appreciate the work or change caused by great people. For example, source B, displays an image with a monument of Christopher Columbus. People can go to this monument and appreciate Christopher Columbus ( after all he did discover america and his great travels to china). People will respect him, but if he wasn’t popular or didn’t do something great in life, then he would not be remembered and would not be cared by people. We build a memorial for people to go and pay their respects to the innocent people who lost their lives. People also build memorials so they can honor those people--the korean war veterans memorial which honors all the people that gave their lives trying to stop communism. These types of sad memorials should always be considered building, because they remind people everywhere the loss or the honor of the people. However, those memorials must be built in a area that fits the memorial because if the memorial isn’t built in a environment that connects with that memorial, then the vibe gets ruined when trying to pay respects to the environment. For example, in source E, demonstrates a Holocaust museum being built in the mall at Washington, D.C. which is an ideal place to put a Holocaust museum because this museum will fit in with all the other monuments and memorial in washington.
