When I found out that my role model and source of inspiration died, I was heartbroken. I only knew of Monty Oum in the last two years of his life, but it was plenty of time for him to create a lasting impression upon my life. His death was so sudden, and unexpected. It took me a while before I truly realized that he was gone forever. I remember constantly checking my phone for any update on his condition, and seeing the news that Monty had passed away in the hospital. Many of my friends knew of Monty so I had many people to talk to about the news of his passing, but I was the only one still affected long after the grief had died down.
