The story focuses in on a man named Fortunato, a man who loves to drink fancy wine. On many occasions, he had bashed the name of Montresor, a man who was good at manipulating and keeping his thoughts to himself. He knew just what he needed to know about Fortunato to suck him in at the right time and the right place. Montresor knew that Fortunato fancied wines, and knew a lot about them too. Fortunato was approached by Montresor when it was clear that Fortunato would be drunk (at a big party). The Amontillado, a very expensive and rare wine that many people wanted, was the perfect soft spot to hit Fortunato with, and Montresor knew that. Montresor gave Fortunato one of the greatest opportunities, to taste the Amontillado, for Fortunato thought.
