Montgomery Monologue

Today is Sunday, March 21st. In just a few minutes, a brand new patient is come to visit me. His name is Noah Montgomery, and his mother has warned me. A 17 year old child prodigy, it seems he knows everything- except social skills. His mother has warned me that he is a bit.... concerning and he may need to be considered for higher level therapy.
[knock on the door, rustling, a door lock click, the creak of a door opening]
Hello, Mr. Montgomery, I'm your therapist, Dr. Goldberg. How do you do?
N: I told my mother I wouldn't come.
But you are here now, so what made you change your mind?
N: She told me she would take away my X-box.
So you are still reluctant to accept treatment. Can you tell me, Noah, do you know why you are here?
N: Because my mother thinks it best.
And why does your mother think you need to be here, with me?
N: You know you aren't the first one, right?
That isn't what I'm asking, Mr. Montgomery.
N: You're the fourth doctor she's sent me to. She refuses to admit that there's nothing wrong with me. Just because I'm intelligent doesn't mean I'm crazy.
Of course not. Can you answer this for me: why does your mother think you're... mentally unstable?
N: It's alright, Ms. Goldberg, you can say it. I'm not crazy, so saying the word isn't offensive.
Why does your mother think you are crazy?

My meeting with Noah Montgomery was very unexpected, and he was very aggravated by everything, especially the tape recorder. I'm not sure if his anger towards me is due to his mother, his fear, or something else entirely. After shutting off my tape recorder, he proceeded to answer every question I asked with a perfectly recited Shakespeare sonnet. It is clear that Noah's case will be a very difficult one, since he is unwilling to cooperate. I have suggested that he and I meet twice a week and that I meet with his mother once a week. He claims there are no issues, but I am determined to get to the root of his anger and his social

Montgomery argues that "The future of mankind is at stake." and there are too many people in the island of plenty. Because feeding hungry people will conclude to creating even more hungry children, He makes it clear that Americans should not share resources with other countries in need, but preserve them. He states that "our planet is in deed a Eden", however, he contradicts himself admitting that our "Eden is plagued by pollution." This included a willingness to re-evaluate my own personal attitudes and expectations, developing greater tolerance and inclusiveness. In addition, I desired to gain further understanding regarding the social and communication skills that Hammond found difficult, and what strategies she implemented to interpret language, appropriate cues and behaviour. I was curious as to whether her schooling experiences had assisted or inhibited her development of such life skills. For example, I had a basic knowledge of Hammond’s life of many transitions between schools and a late diagnosis, and wondered whether such circumstances…

Bugs love me. It is an unrequited love. In the forests of North Carolina where I have spent summers since I was seven years old, it was a constant battle not to be consumed by the never ending mass of insects who rated me five-star cuisine. Maybe it was my fair skin, the light hue that drew them like a lantern in the night. Or maybe it was my fresh mint shampoo that made them think I was a part of the nature they so adored.…
