On Wednesday April 5, 2017 staff from the Port Authority Aviation Department and the Labor Relations Department met with representatives from AHRC at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York to discuss implementing Project Search at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK). AHRC is a non-profit organization that supports the intellectually and developmentally disabled and Project Search is a school-to-work high school transition program in which the employer provides internship opportunities and classroom space to up to twelve disabled students per year. Montefiore Medical Center is currently a Project Search host employer and staff from the hospital provided a tour of their facility to see Project Search in action and to meet several of the Project Search …show more content…
After the rewarding tour at Montefiore, the Aviation Department, the Labor Relations Department, and AHRC agreed to next meet at JFK so that AHRC can tour the airport facility and so that parties can further explore and assess the potential of implementing Project Search at the Port
