Imagine attending the most important meeting of your life. You walk through the door and take a seat. As you look around you realize everyone is wrapped up in conversation with one another, yet you can’t hear a single sound. You see everyone’s mouths moving, but you are surrounded by complete and utter silence. How would you go about communicating with the people around you? Would you try to speak even though you couldn’t hear your own voice? Would you try to read the lips of everyone beside you, and attempt to understand what was being said?
