In the beginning of the book, Montag was a very boring and unhappy man, but Montag didn’t know he was unhappy. He believed his life was fine, he was married,had a good home, and he was a Fireman, what could be better than that? Montag didn’t question the society, didn’t question his job, and did what he was told. He did not take any interest in books and would burn them without question as to why they were bad enough to burn when found. Montag starts to sneak books away from the fires he burns and starts to read them secretly. The way he thinks and sees book entirely changes once he starts to read them and memorize parts of them. He is not sure that he loves his wife anymore. After meeting his neighbors girl, Clarisse McClellan, he is not sure that he loves his wife, he opens his eyes to life and to books.
