In the story Of Mice and Men the two main characters Lennie, and George have their own goal that they are striving to achieve. They try their hardest to get to their expectations. It is very important to reach the goals that you set for yourself even if they are far fetched. It’s important that you atleast try to make it to them and strive to each of them. John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men says going through life with a friend always makes it easier to strive to a higher purpose, as also shown in the movie Monsters University. One of the many is the fact that Sully and Mike are monsters. The contrast of this is just the fact that George and Lennie are humans and not monsters. “We're right on it Mr. Snowman”said Mike to the Yeti (Monsters University). Here it is showing how Mike is calling a man a snowman, but that is because he is a Yeti who lives in the snow. The setting in both stories are different; for example, in Monsters University they are at college. George and Lennie are on a ranch to buck barley for a living. “Guys like us got nothing to look ahead to,” said George to Lennie (Steinbeck). As he refers to guys like us he is talking about ranchers. With this quote it’s showing the location that they are during the story which is on a farm in the town of Soledad.Their goals that they were trying to achieve were different. In story Of Mice and Men George and Lennie's goal was to get the money to buy their ten acre lot with a small house on and start their own farm. They would have to get close to $600 to buy the place that they wanted from a couple who needed to pay for surgery. This shows how determined they are to reach this goal, however when they got close, bad things happen and George gives up because he doesn't have the companionship of his best friend. Similarly In the movie Monsters University Mike and Sully are striving to achieve their goal of winning the campus games. This was important to both of them, but at first they try doing it alone. It doesn't work until they become friends and they use their friendship to accomplish
