Monster, Inc. is a Pixar’s movie that are based on two monster employees that are best friends with each other, the story are centered on their adventure in returning a children that accidentally come to the Monstropolis, the company they work for by scaring children in order to get energy. Despite being a movie that targeted young children as their viewers, some leadership characteristics can be learnt by watching this movie. Being a leader required you to have an open mind; to be aware of changes, to keep innovating, and to be able to accept critiques. One thing that James P. Sullivan or Sulley able to demonstrate is that his ability to realize that the laughter is more powerful than the screams of fear. He is able to realize it and implement …show more content…
He overcame the challenges that Randall and Henry j. Waternoose give him and because he is very determined “monster”, he is able to do just that. Plus, he also uncovers the scheme between Randall and Waternoose and because of his experience; he became the new chairman of Monster Inc. Loyalty is also one thing that a leader must have. Mike and Sulley are loyal to each other and plus they are creative thinkers, they came up with creative solutions to hide Boo in the monster world and still get each other back. Even when Mike has doubts for Sulley action and frustrated by him, in the end he apologizes and help Mike to defeat Randall and returns Boo to human world. Mike also later on tries to rebuild Boo’s door that has been destroyed and help Sulley to reunites with Boo. Sulley’s leadership styles are leaning more towards the supportive behavior and people oriented. He has two-way communication with his colleagues and help them feel comfortable with themselves, their other colleagues, and their work environment and system which has changed almost drastically since he was appointed as the leader (from scaring children into making them laugh).
