What the author wanted to accomplish with the book “monster” is relating the book to his life; in his high school years he was called a “Monster” because of his speech impediment and the trouble he got into at school. He accomplished connecting it to his life because when Steve was making his letters, he wrote monster in his notebook during court because he felt and believed people saw him as a monster. The intended audience for this book is anyone who but mostly to teenage kids who like and might feel connected or understanding of the life of urban low class situations that can happen and interest the youth.
