Elizabeth Cohen interviewed researchers of Ebola who discovered over three hundred genetic variations in the Ebola virus (Cohen 2). Each mutation that Ebola makes gives the virus a chance to become stronger or to spread in a different manner. Some researchers are warning the public about the chances of Ebola mutating into a form that could be spread through the air; they are cautioning, “the chances are relatively small that Ebola will make that jump. But as the virus spreads, the likelihood increases” (Cohen 1). With researchers considering that Ebola could possibly mutate and be spread by just a cough or a sneeze, it becomes very clear that experts need to do something to stop it-and they better do it …show more content…
She worked to help discover what caused monkeys to die when infected with Ebola (Preston 59). Working with Ebola is a dangerous job, and it was Jaax who was in charge of helping dissect infected monkeys after they crashed and bled out. Jaax cut her hand one morning before attending work; that same day she got blood infected with Ebola inside her gloves (Preston 90). Jaax, however, never contracted Ebola herself. If researchers would analyze what made Jaax different from others who had come into contact with Ebola infected blood, then perhaps they could be lead to discovering the agent that prevents
