Mrs. White begged her husband to wish for the son to come back to life. He was afraid of her at times when she was act like that, she only wanted her son back but what done is done. Mr. White wanted to make is wife happy, to put her at ease. So he finally wished for his son, Herbert to come back to life.
The way Mr. White wished for his son to come back to them, to be alive again was not very smart. The Whites did not attend their own son’s funeral because how badly he was injured. He did not want his wife to see their son disfigured in his finally resting place. If I was Mrs. White, yes I would grieve about the death of my son. But I wouldn’t want him alive again, he was dead for a reason. But if I was Mr. White I would have wished for my son to come back health and the way he was before the accident.
In closer, the result of the use of the monkey’s paw had it’s own residuals. The lesson of the story was to be careful for what you wish. If you are happy without it, then why ask for it. Yes, the loss of their son was hard but everyone eventually dies maybe some sooner than others. However we can’t control that, so you just have to live with it and get over it. Do not wish for things that shouldn’t be wished for if you can’t control it
