Two areas that could be trained within the Packer position are monitoring and inspecting items for possible damage. Monitoring is one of the few skills needed to perform the job. In our job analysis, we defined monitoring as assessing and adapting the performance of yourself, others, and the organization for improvements. This is necessary to meet productivity demands. Monitoring is vital to the packer, as The task of inspecting items for possible damage was part of the Quality Control dimension. This task involves analyzing the items for potential damage or problems before they are placed on the conveyor belt for shipment. These two areas were selected, as they were proven vital through our job analysis.

New employees would be given a tour of the fulfillment center in order to become acclimated to facilities. In order to comply with OSHA requirements, new employees will be taken through “Safety School” to teach them how to properly perform their daily task duties. In safety school, employees will learn how to identify hazardous materials, how to properly bend at the knees when reaching for low items, how to utilize a step-stool when reaching for items above the head, and how to safely use a tape gun to seal boxes for …show more content…
In these smaller groups, new employees will experience hands on training in how to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the job. During this on the job training, new hires will be guided through problem identification scenarios focused on identifying potential work problems such as missing products and damage. In order for new employees to get a realistic on the job training experience, training will be done within the fulfillment center. At the fulfillment center, new employees will have access to the equipment used daily on the job. Since current employees from the department are the most knowledgeable and most relatable, trainers will be selected from the current department of Packers. These employees will work alongside the new employees and act as a resource to ask questions and gain advice in the future.
The initial training will last the entire 10 hours of the first work day and will conclude at the end of the 4 week “learning curve” period. After the first 10 hour shift, trainees will be able to fully perform the tasks of the job and should be able to operate without guidance. The learning curve is in place in order to give new employees feedback and proper time to adjust to the fast paced work
