Monitoring Daily Habits

Monitoring daily personal diet and exercise routines is a great way to help a person assess more about themselves from a health standpoint. By keeping track of the nutrients one takes in on a daily basis a person can figure out what diseases or health related problems one may be putting themselves at risk for as a result of their diet. Personally I have never taken advantage of monitoring my daily activity and diet. This most likely is because I have always had a routine created for me to follow through my athletics, but this nutrition analysis assignment forced me to actually record my daily habits. Now that I have done it I can see firsthand all of the benefits that come with monitoring daily routines, and after analyzing my diet and activity …show more content…
Now, I am very aware that slim jims and sweet onion chicken teriyaki subs are particularly high in sodium so that is something that does not really worry me because I seldom consume those food products, and to add to that I make sure that I do not salt any of my foods. This does not mean my sodium intake is something that I should not monitor because the fact that I more than doubled my recommended intake of 2400mg of sodium a day was alarming to me. A high sodium intake can increase blood pressure, promote kidney disease and cause fluid retention. None of which are good, so I will be making sure to pay extra attention to the amount of sodium in the foods I eat. Also, it may be beneficial for me to stop taking vitamin C and Iron supplements in the morning. My nutrition analysis says that I should be receiving 100-500mg of Vitamin C; I am exceeding this amount by 500mg. I should be receiving about 100-150mg of Iron and I am getting about 400 mg. As we learned in the presentations too much vitamin C can cause problems such as; dry skin, anemia, and also a potential decrease in
