Monica and David (2009) is a film directed and produced by Monica Codina about a couple getting married. Monica and David along with their amazing parents in this film invites us into their lives to see their journey in life and their struggles. Although being happy newly weds they’re are facing obstacles along the way with their independence from their parents because of dealing with down syndrome. For instance, Monica in the beginning scene while talking to her future husband David on the phone says to him “ I better go, cause you know my mom, I have to rest” (Codina). I believe this scene is showing both Monica and David’s consistent struggle with not being able to do as they please.
