A little green piece of paper called money rules the world in the United States since we are a capitalist country. It determines everything we do in life to what we wear, what we eat, and even the places we go. Making a decision to go to college comes with a lot of responsibility because we have to worry about finances. I believe the government should figure out a system that would make community colleges free for anybody willing to pursue higher education. Going to a free community college will help out many people and especially college students. One reason to make college free is that it will not be a financial burden to the students. Another reason for supporting free education is that college students will focus more and receive their …show more content…
Going to college and wanting to educate ourselves shouldn’t be a place where we have to worry about money. The college bills are outstanding due to the fact that there is tuition fees, book fees, maintenance fees, application fees, registration fees. Everything adds up and that would just be for one semester. How would a college student be able to pay all that money while trying to go to school? Its not just a few hundred dollars this is thousands of dollars we are talking about. In a recent study by CNN due to climbing tuition, 40 million americans have at least one outstanding student loan. The government only provides financial aid to low income families. That isn’t a good system because that puts a divide into American families. They believe that middle class families can afford to pay outstanding college tuition bills. In order to be able to afford that they would need to take out loans. That would automatically place them in debt, owing money to the government. If something goes wrong they will be in the same position as low income families where the children will need to contribute to the family income. College should be a place of learning, not about paying tuition bills that can place students along with their families in

They could just raise the standards for people who want to go to college for free. However, this would solve many problems in the world. As well as to make people 's lives easier. “Different nations benefit from this as they are growing a class of people not saddled with debt and therefore are capable of contributing to the economy!” Actually it would help out a lot of those people who always wished they could go to college but couldn’t because they were stuck having to help raise their siblings/help out their parents.…

Many students are flustered and worry about how they are going to pay for tuition, books, meal plan, etc. With college being so expensive with tuition alone (more than three thousand a semester), how are students expected to pay for all of these other requirements, concentrate on academics, and support themselves? It is extremely hard and nearly impossible to do so, especially since everybody’s financial situation is not the same. By the government not funding free community college it is “discouraging young people who do not have a traditional academic family background” or financial stability “from taking up study. ”(Stapelfeldt).…

The Dangerous Consequences of Growing Inequality by Chuck Collins argues that the burgeoning gap between the upper and lower classes has strenuous personal and economic ramifications. He summarizes the pressures facing households and the economic inequalities that undermine the security of families, threaten our democratic institutions and economy, deteriorate our public health as well as breaking down our social cohesion. The ever so important middle class has been vanishing right before our eyes, there is a strain on relationships between ourselves and our neighbors, families and co-workers which prevents our society from uniting and striving for greatness. As a greedy and power hungry society we completely forgot what is most important, our fellow citizens and their well-being. Collins’ essay is an effective argument for social justice because he shows that even though our economy has thrived throughout the decades those profits have not trickled down to the working class…

College Should Be Free Bob Samuels in his article claims that all public higher education should be free, and the policy even could save money for our country. Samuels states that everyone who studies in colleges or universities is paying more right now than what they actually need for school; as a result, it causes low graduation rates for schools. Also, Samuels states that the reason why students drop out of higher education is that they cannot afford the higher cost of tuition, so making public higher education free is necessary. If many students go to colleges, fewer people would be unemployed and in need of governmental assistance, therefore our government can save more money for other needed services. What’s more is that Samuels thinks…

By making all public colleges free in America it would roughly cost between fifty and thirty billion dollars, which may appear like a mountain of money, specifically taxpayers money; but the government is spending a substantial amount of money on profitable colleges which have extremely low graduation rates (Samuels, 2014). Higher education can be seen to improve the economy immensely. If all 18-24 year olds were enrolled and active in college unemployment would reduce by 2 million people (Samuels, 2014)! A higher educated America would also allow us to become more competitively economically and academically on an international level. Also a more educated work force and educated society would reduce criminal activity, and ensure greater success for the future of America.…

School is a necessary system worldwide to invest in a society 's future. The primary argument as to why educational institutions should be free in the U.S. is not to give everyone the equal opportunity to education as stated by Lawrence (a professor of History emeritus at SUNY Albany) although it is one of the reasons, the primary reason is to increase the number of educated workers to hopefully improve our economy. It is stated that an “educated work force has become an essential component of economic growth and competitiveness (Student Aid Alliance). However, college tuition filters out those who are not willing to pay for their education and also funds universities so that they are able to function and upgrade their facilities. College should not be free because it would lead to tax raises, the value of a degree would decline, and the overall quality of the educational environment would decrease.…
