Proverbs 28:7 says, “The one who keeps the law is a son with understanding, but a companion of gluttons shames his father” (ESV). Here we see the importance of not overindulging in anything. Glutton is important to stay away from and is clearly listed as sin. Jay W. Richards states, “Glutton involves the state of our hearts, the orientation of our desires, our priorities” (161). Many people find that gluttony means you are having more than you need. Jay Richards puts this to rest in ensuring that if this were the case, we all are gluttons (which may be the case anyway). Where do we as Christians draw the line? I enjoy this topic because many people are gluttons and are stuck in this. Fortunately for us, we see in scripture that God does not want us to be. We also see that we can go out and have feasts, yet not be gluttons. God allows us to enjoy things in life while also teaching us everything in
