In the Novel “ The Great Gatsby” it shows that money can’t buy happiness, but also that money was the end of Gatsby. He doesn’t strive to become wealthy...because of greed. He strives to become wealthy for winning Daisy back. It seems that money only matters to Gatsby, though the fact he thinks it will help him win Daisy back. Therefore money not buying happiness doesn’t apply to Gatsby. Albeit Daisy will bring happiness to Gatsby, nothing else. For an example, Tom is definitely leading a happy life, so to speak. He has a beautiful wife, doesn’t have to work as far as the reader knows, and has a girlfriend, too. And he wins in the end. Even though he is so sure to himself and so ignorant that he thinks he’s always right and enjoys the winning. …show more content…
Jay Gatsby was a man of terriffic qualities some of how are good & bad. During the novel of “ The Great Gatsby” by F.Scott Fitzgerald, we learn of his past and discover the True qualities of Jay Gatsby. As in Chapter 4 pg 34-39, he simple “ reached in his pocket and a piece of metal, slung on a ribbon, fell into my palm. “That’s one from montenegro”. Too my astonishment, the thing had an authentic look. Albeit ( Fitzgerald, 20) he was sad because he couldnt get Daisy and felt alone. In reality people can be rich and still not see themselves happy. Fortunately some people are filthy rich and tend to commit suicide, because the money can’t buy them happiness. Happiness is really gained by the thought of it, and if they never know what makes them happy… then they will forever be sad with just money and have no pride of what they have. Gatsby money lead to his downfall, because of what he had. Fortunately is love for Daisy, leads himself towards danger... inevitably it eventually left him to his downfall.
