Mom's Collision-Personal Narrative

Collision Conclusion Pieces of shattered, jagged glass surrounded me as I tasted the downpour of salty tears streaming down my face. I looked around appalled while the wet, gelid air moistened my hair and wondered; what would I do next? I had no control over what had just happened, but after a while, I knew everything was going to be okay. Like I always say, “weather good or bad, everything happens for a reason; the only thing we need to remember is to focus on the positive.”
That day was like any wintry morning. The trees were heavy with water turned still by freezing conditions, every building was covered in icicles, and everywhere your eyes wondered seemed to be frost bitten. I got ready that day pondering why I had to go to prison, or in other words, high school.

With tears still in my eyes I answered, “I’m fine but the car is totaled.”
“As long as you are okay that’s all that matters.”
That last sentence right there was all I needed to hear to know that everything was going to be alright. After all the chaos, the shattered glass and car scraps were removed from the scene, and my mom was on the other side ready to comfort me. What I found absolutely astonishing about this whole scenario was that after being sandwiched between two cars and glass fragments everywhere I came out of it all without even a scratch. This event got me thinking, and it made me realize that “weather good or bad, everything happens for a reason; the only thing we need to remember is to focus on the positive.”
Every time a difficult situation comes along now such as a big storm, starting college, or even just being overwhelmed by school work I recall this scary moment in my life. It reminds me that no matter what comes my way that I can conquer it. Knowing that everything is going to be okay is my safe haven, and without this occurrence I probably would’ve always viewed my circumstances with the glass half

The last vestiges of fall had passed and only brown, shriveled leaves remained on the sidewalk. Trees appeared naked, shivering without their blanket of color. Cold air blew through their skinny, lifeless branches, tossing the trees around as though they were mere sticks rather than giants. She shuddered as the chilly wind kissed her brow, leaving a wretched disease of ice and sorrow in its wake. Within this wintry prison there was no joy, there was no warmth, and, above all, there was no diversity.…

I can relate the situation from the novel Tears of a Tiger to my own life. For example me and my friends are very similar to all the situation in the book. The author wrote “after a while the car started to sway, but I wasn’t sure if it was me getting’ dizzy or if the car really was weaving across the expressway”. This quote from the author shows just how drunk the kids were. Also, in chapter 4 the author says “Then all of a sudden, like out of nowhere, this wall was in front of us, like it jumped out in front of the car, and Andy was trying to find the brakes with his foot, and then there was glass everywhere and this crunching grinding’ sound”.…

Paul Laurence Dunbar a 19th century literary laureate conceived by former slaves during the era of Reconstruction, is still to this present day a pioneering voice for persons of African descent in a literary form that could be heard in his profound and meticulous writings. Dunbar was an activist whose incontrovertible ideologies of egalitarianism was conveyed in his modest yet colorful rhetoric. In many instances, he spoke of the racial prejudices that entailed the United States of America post-Civil War, and during others he was solely writing literature that paid homage to his Negro heritage or writing to uplift humankind from the oppressions of reality. Dunbar developed into a man during a time where black men had begun to procure imperative civil rights that “guaranteed freedmen all of the benefits of federal citizenship, outlawed slavery, along with other forms of involuntary servitude, and ensured that ‘ALL’ men regardless of race, color, or previous condition of servitude were…
