As children, we didn’t know about majors, degrees, careers, or the difference between the meaning of a life with a college education and one with the lack thereof. All we knew, at least all I knew, was that I had a Mommy and a Daddy, and I needn’t worry about a thing. My first answer was a princess. The next time I was asked that question I had a different answer: track star. I thought that was my passion. At the time, I knew I enjoyed running the track and sprinting. I didn’t realize that this “passion” I had would soon fly away for one simple reason: track and field wasn’t my passion. Throughout Pre-K and 4th grade, these answers often change and for people like me, it became a cycle. It was a battle between becoming a doctor or a professional entertainer. To this day, I still fight that battle, because my professional journey hasn’t quite begun yet. Besides, there’s always a goal a being that is living would have to accomplish, right? Instead, I’ve narrowed my battleground. One career path seems a little more carefree and simple. One career path has always been more potent and serious than the other. This explains why the questions and responses to these questions changed. Throughout journeys in life, we all change, move and grow. At least, we should. Life is for the ever learning and ever growing. There is a little kid in all of us that still wants to be the princess or superhero we know we can’t be. Instead, we translate those fairytales to our career and life. Every career and life is created to help someone. In my journey through life, I want to be that princess that can help wipe the little ones’ fears away by helping them through their surgeries as a Nurse
