Many homeowners know that having mold in their homes is bad, yet they are unaware of exactly how bad it is for their health. Mold can spread and grow anywhere in a home or business as long as there is oxygen and moisture present. Mold releases spores that can center your home through windows, vents, and doorways. It can also be brought into a home by attaching to clothing or a pet. Mold is most commonly found in basements that have been flooded, underneath or behind refrigerators, and underneath kitchen and bathroom sinks. In fact, it may be possible that your home has hundreds or even thousands of spores within one cubic foot of air inside your home.

As mentioned earlier, mold will spread wherever there is moisture and oxygen in a home. Mold will often grow around leaks in your roof, windows, pipes, and in basement where there has been flooding. Moisture is often added to the air in homes from the use of showers and even cooking, increasing the chance of mold spreading.
Mold thrives where it grows, and often times destroys the source that its growing on. Usually when mold is growing in your home, to get rid of the infestation you most likely need to tear out wood, drywall, or other materials that is has affected.
Controlling Mold Growth
Mold spores are microscopic and cannot be stopped from entering your home. However, you can prevent the growth of mold by controlling and monitoring the moisture levels in your home. Take a look the following simple measures that can help prevent mold from growing in your home:
Repair any leaks or seepage as soon as they are noticed
Use dehumidifiers and air conditioners in basements and other areas of the house where mold tends to
