The basketball represents Bobby’s childhood rolling away. When Bobby put his ball on the floor it rolled away and he had to grow up on the inside. On the outside he was still sixteen but he had to change a lot in order to keep the baby. The reason I say the basketball was like his childhood was because he had to take full responsibility for his child.
