With the onset of winter near in sight, like many others, I am preparing for the cold weather approaching. This preparation normally starts with ensuring our vehicles are ready for the long, harsh, and cold weather that will eventually come to this area. One of the most important items on my list would be new brake pads and shoes on all of our vehicles. What makes this a need vs. a wanted item is the fact that I want to ensure the safety of my family members and myself. In particular, having optimal functioning breaks is similar to the safe-haven of having a good home or shelter to protect you from the elements of bad weather.

There are many different composites that go into making brake shoes and pads for vehicles. To make an informed decision I must read the literature and the companies’ advertisements to get the information that I seek. However, a lot of my personal experience comes from the trial and error system and contributes to a big part of my decision process. Over the years, I have gained personal experience with different suppliers and their products. In turn, I have created a loyalty/preference to some vendors due to their customer service. In my experience, I have found that OEM parts are overpriced. A great alternative is a parts warehouse, which in most cases can offer the same part at a more affordable cost. Most parts warehouse' offers product warranties against defective parts when the OEM does not. My preferred supplier is AutoZone, with O'Reilly Auto Parts as a second choice. With several features in mind that I am personally looking for in a truck, what means the most, would be a dependable workhorse. I feel as if I am always pulling a trailer, with various in products and the amounts of weight. With a variety of types of the trucks currently on the market, I naturally look at each vehicles specification to determine the best payload and stopping power that each one has. Comparable shopping is a must to ensure that you have what you desire in a truck. I rely on the advertisements of each automotive maker puts out and their J.D.
