    LTC Kunk Leadership Style

    • 389 Words
    • 2 Pages

One of the many Army clichés LTC Kunk tries to operate by is “teach, coach, [and] mentor” (Fredrick, 2017, p 27). Teaching, coaching, and mentoring is defined as “…[instructing] by precept, example, or experience”, “one who instructs or trains, and “a trusted counselor or guide”, respectively. With this knowledge, it becomes clear if a person were to follow these three ideals they would more than likely be an engaged and effective leader. The significance of being an engaged leader is often understated in many corporations and even more so within the United States Army. This has the potential to birth and cultivate a multitude of problems.…

My Philosophy is simple, but covers a couple of points, to include providing rapid, accurate and correct S1 Support to the 2-398th Cavalry Regiment and its subordinate Troops, and to communicate consistently with Seniors, peers and subordinates. The only reason I am at the 2-398th is to support its missions by maintaining and improving unit readiness by ensuring all S1 related functions are taken care of. This cannot be accomplished of course, without providing effective, and understanding leadership to the Soldiers in the S1 section. From the most junior enlisted Soldier, to the most experienced NCO assigned to the S1, every single one is an integral part for accomplishing the mission of providing excellent S1 support. Following a nine month deployment to Afghanistan, the Brigade appears to be overcome by stress, fatigue, leadership, and ethics issues.
