Throughout the book, Aziz Ansari and Eric Klinenberg examine the effect technology has had on modern-day relationships. With each chapter, they compare courtships and dating methods of today and in the past. Using several anecdotes, charts, and journal references, Modern Romance finds that technology-mediated relationships are gaining popularity. However, it also argues that in-person interaction can never truly be replaced.

I can show the transition of relationships from primarily public venues to private venues. I will also use his research to formulate my argument on the effects and long-term implications of online dating

This article by Krystal D’ Costa points out the increased risk of deception online. She specifically explains the term “catfishing” in the context of online dating. Throughout her article, she explains using statistics the probability of deception through social media. She also specifically highlights ways in which online daters can be deceived.

As it is intended for a more general audience, the article is informal and uses basic language. As a result of the lessened importance of family relations and religious affiliation in today’s society, people are more willing to turn to the internet for a romantic partnership in times of loneliness. The article also mentions how online dating makes it easier for users to meet people without the intimidation of face-to-face contact. People feel less vulnerable when they are online. As a psychologist herself, the author of the article also comments on how the patients she has who are not completely invested in online dating usually find them more
