Modern Day Vs Shakespeares Day

Decent Essays
Shakespeares world and our world are quite defferent. For instance he didn't have a T.V. and now when we go to the theatre we dont have to pay a penny to sit down or another to be up higher, and now we have cars and not horse pulled cariages. also he didn't have a president like we do he had a queen. I will explian even more of those difference in this essay

One of the biggest differences of shakespeares day and our day are they didn't have a president like our new president Donald trump... sigh. Instead they had a queen ya that's right a queen, her name was queen Elizabeth. Even though modern day london still has a queen she doesn't have nearly as much power as shakespeares queen, now most of their power comes from the prime minister, queen

today our actors are held in the highest respect, Back then they could be put in prison for it. The actors we have now make way much more money than the actors in their days. Also going to the theatre was much different. for axample you would have to pay extra to sit down on a couch or be in the rafters. Usually they wouldn't have inter missions in plays either or bathrooms and these plays could go on for three hours or more so I will let you do the math...

also people in shakespeares day didn't have any cars, phones, computers, air conditoning, e.t.c. so if they wanted to buy new clothes they wouldn't go to the mall or to amazon, usually they would have to make them. If they wanted to hang out with friends they would have to walk there not drive or call them over. they also didn't have computers, so that would make life very hard they couldn't type things up, they would have to use a quill and ink... they didn't even have pens or anything like that. So it would not be easy to live in shakespeares day.

So in conclusion it wouldn't be easy to live in shakespeares day because you would have a ruler instead of a president. If you were an actor you would have probably gotten arrested instead of getting defended for drinking too much or something like that, and you wouldn't have a phone or computer. well that's my essay thanks for reading it I hope you found it entertaining and informative. Thanks

British History 1550-1600 Back in the 1550 and 1600 it was much different from today. Shakespeare was born in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Elizabeth had settled the religious question by establishing the Church of England as the official religion of the country, insisting on church service in English, the English Bible and prayer book in churches. The later part of Shakespeare's life was lived during the reign of King James I, who inherited the throne of England when Elizabeth died. The rulers of britain were Elizabeth, the queen of England from 1558 to 1603. She became the queen after Mary I and Philip 47 died.…

While Alexandra Petri in “On the Bard’s Birthday, is Shakespeare Still Relevant?” suggests that Shakespeare in the new, modern, age is unimportant to society now, I concede that no matter what day or age, Shakespeare is an important part of English history. Americans today tend to think of freshman english class and are reminded of the ever so famous “Romeo and Juliet”. You would think that the cherished piece of history were to be around forever, being taught the same way, forever. However, in her work, Petri insists that the studied works of Shakespeare are simply “outdated”.…

This quote, “His impacts endures not only in the way we express ourselves, but how we experience and process the world around us,” gives us the knowledge that Shakespeare is still relevant. He gradually, intentionally, and cleverly moves to audience to think outside the box and cause the audience to be constantly aware of what is going on in the play. Shakespeare shows an important example of old English text. His works of Macbeth is simple to follow along, with memorable characters, and a history of a tyrant that is good to read to not be a behavior repeated. Shakespeare’s works, coined words, and old English have put impacts on today.…

Shakespeare began his career during the reign of Elizabeth I. During her forty-five year reign, England flourished. This is the reason why her reign is also referred to not only as the Elizabethan era but also as the Golden Age of Elizabeth.…
