This morning I was feeling exhausted from the long night. Sleep is what I needed more of but the scent of doughnuts frying caught me by surprise. I jumped out of the bed put on a fresh pair of underwear without even thinking of taking a bath. By the time I made it downstairs everyone was half done eating their food. Claude looked up at me unsurprised and mumbled “good morning sweetie, how’d you sleep?” He knew I disliked that that word I rolled my eyes in disgust. Claude was jealous of me besides I was the favorite, I had the looks and he had nothing. Me being mature I ignored him and waved good morning to everyone. I glanced at mom and reminded her if she still wanted a ride to church this evening. …show more content…

Another hot summer in Idaho at another family reunion. I chased after my dad and brother’s cloud of dust; reving my ATV’s (all terrain vehicle) engine I whipped around the land my great great uncle homesteaded on. When I came too a few seconds later I was alone; high on the trails of the Sawtooth mountains, blood gushing from my shin.…
